International Freight Forwarder | Melbourne
We are an established international freight forwarding company with a strong global network and a growing footprint in Australia. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Transport Operations Coordinator – Import FCL to join our Melbourne team.
This role is ideal for someone with solid experience in import container transport and wharf cartage who enjoys managing end-to-end movements from the terminal through to final delivery.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating Import FCL transport operations , ensuring containers move efficiently from wharf to depot and final delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating Import FCL cartage from Melbourne wharves
- Booking and managing container transport with approved carriers
- Liaising with terminals, shipping lines, depots, and warehouses
- Monitoring container availability, slot bookings, and de-hires
- Managing delivery schedules, delays, and operational issues
- Tracking and managing detention, demurrage, and storage risks
- Ensuring empty containers are returned within free time
- Preparing transport documentation and updating operating systems
- Providing proactive communication to customers and internal teams
About You
You will ideally bring:
- Proven experience in Import FCL transport or wharf cartage operations
- Strong understanding of container terminals, depots, and shipping line processes
- Knowledge of detention, demurrage, and empty container management
- Ability to manage multiple container movements in a high-volume environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and time management skills
- Experience with freight or transport management systems
