The Angel of Malvern
Caulfield Full-day Full-time

Description:

Be part of something new in Australian hospitality.

We’re not just building venues, we’re creating destinations where people gather, connect and celebrate.

The Angel of Malvern is a reimagined, multi-level heritage venue transformed into a contemporary destination of modern luxury, timeless charm and community spirit.

Set across three distinct levels - a public bar and bistro, Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and cocktail lounge, and intimate private event spaces - The Angel delivers casual luxury for the community. A place for locals to unwind, connect and celebrate.

We’re now seeking an experienced and passionate Venue Manager to help bring this landmark venue to life.

About the Opportunity

This is a rare chance to play a key leadership role in shaping one of Melbourne’s most exciting hospitality openings.

Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Senior Leadership team, you will lead day-to-day operations, inspire high-performing teams and ensure exceptional guest experiences from pre-opening through to ongoing success.

You’ll be hands-on, commercially focused, and deeply invested in building a strong culture and operational foundation that sets The Angel apart.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily venue operations across all areas of the venue, ensuring consistent service excellence, strong financial performance and full compliance with licensing, WHS and workplace legislation.
  • Support the General Manager in delivering strong financial performance, budgeting and cost control.
  • Recruit, train and develop high-performing Front-of-House and Back-of-House teams while fostering a positive, accountable and guest-focused culture.
  • Oversee rostering, labour management and payroll accuracy and maintain exceptional standards of presentation, cleanliness and safety.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, stakeholders and the local community, and lead service delivery for functions, events and high-volume trade.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and General Manager to develop and refine menus, specials, seasonal offerings and beverage lists, while planning engaging event nights and activations
  • Manage ordering, stocktakes and inventory control to minimise waste and optimise margins.
  • Support the rollout of new concepts and service initiatives, ensuring all offerings align with brand standards and commercial targets and use performance data and guest feedback to drive continuous improvement and revenue growth.

About You

You’re approachable, practical and energised by fast-paced hospitality. You love being the calm, capable person everyone relies on. You’ll also bring:

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Venue Manager or Senior Assistant Manager in a high-volume venue
  • Strong knowledge of Victorian liquor licensing and hospitality compliance
  • Demonstrated experience managing gaming operations and understanding of Victorian gaming compliance
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and retain large teams
  • Solid financial and operational management skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
  • Confident communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A hands-on, solutions-focused mindset
  • Genuine pride in creating memorable guest experiences

Why Join Us

  • Shape one of Melbourne’s most anticipated new hospitality destinations
  • Work in a beautifully designed, multi-level flagship venue
  • Opportunity to shape culture and operations from the ground up
  • Career growth within our expanding hospitality portfolio
  • Join a passionate, ambitious team with a shared vision for excellence
