Description:

The Principal Project Coordinator supports the Executive Manager, Infrastructure and Major Projects in the statewide management, coordination and implementation of the QAS Capital Works and Buildings Program, which includes capital planning, infrastructure development and the delivery of major capital and minor works projects. The role operates at a senior level, providing advice and ongoing leadership in capital project delivery to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, to ensure the capital and infrastructure needs of the organisation are achieved and support the operational capability of the QAS.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

  • Demonstrated achievement in and commitment to effectively managing and completing multiple complex and diverse projects and managing end to end statewide capital works, minor works and maintenance programs.
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and ability to interpret and apply government requirements, relevant legislation and policy, and contribute to strategic planning and the provision of specialist building and construction related advice.
  • Proven innovative and analytical problem-solving skills, with a flexible and agile approach in a complex, rapidly changing and sensitive organisational environment.
  • Demonstrated well-developed communication, negotiation, consultation and collaboration skills including the proven ability to prepare and write high-level and complex documentation and correspondence.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders and influence these parties to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate and mentor a team in the delivery of capital projects and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Well-developed organisational skills, including the proven ability to multi-task, demonstrate sound judgement and work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.


The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

  • Whilst not mandatory, possession of qualifications / formal training in a relevant field such as building construction, project management or development management will be highly regarded.
  • The incumbent may be required to travel intrastate on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence is required.
