Interior Designer Mid-Level

Watson Young Architects
Sydney Full-day Full-time

Description:

Interior Designer, Midlevel

Your Role

We’re looking for a talented and self-driven Interior Designer to join our growing Sydney team. Reporting into our Melbourne-based Interiors Team, this is a standalone role in Sydney where you will take ownership of interior design projects across Education, Commercial and Industrial sectors, contributing across all stages of design from concept through to documentation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives working autonomously while collaborating closely with a broader multidisciplinary studio, and who is excited to shape and drive the interiors presence in Sydney.

You’ll work across multiple projects, coordinate with consultants and clients, and champion thoughtful, impactful design that reflects Watson Young’s values.

This is a full-time position, but we’re open to flexibility for the right person. Please let us know your preferences when you apply.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of interior design documentation packages, producing high-quality drawings using Revit and relevant software
  • Manage project tasks independently and deliver high-quality work across multiple phases (concept, design development, documentation)
  • Curate material and finishes selections, that enhance both design intent and user experience.
  • Liaise with clients and consultants, attend site visits, and participate in meetings and contract admin where needed
  • Uphold design excellence, ensuring documentation meets regulatory requirements and Watson Young’s internal QA standards

About You

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or equivalent tertiary education
  • Demonstrated experience delivering interiors projects across all design phases, from small to large-scale environments
  • A strong balance of technical precision and creative thinking, with confidence using Revit, InDesign, SketchUp and Photoshop
  • Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple projects independently, with clear and professional communication skills
  • Emotionally intelligent, self-reflective, and resilient under pressure - aligned with Watson Young’s core values
