In this role you are leading a software team delivering UIs and analytics for deploying change to the entire AWS Network, with an exciting roadmap to deliver changes at higher speed and safety to every device.
You are joining a high performing team interacting closely with three other software teams based in Sydney. We are part of a software group with teams in Dublin, Seattle, San Jose and Sydney and collaborate regularly across geography, including quarterly travel.
Your customers are AWS Network Development Engineers, located globally, with many base in Sydney. Having internal customers in the same building, gives you access to key insights to make your services successful.
Key job responsibilities
Lead an established high performing team to deliver monitoring & analytics services for updating the global AWS network. This includes UIs for tools that mitigate network issues, track the progress and safety of configuration deployments, as well as providing comprehensive metrics and insights.
Lead your team to design and deliver improved user experiences, monitoring & analytics services to every network device.
Our investment plan for 2026 underpins AWS's commitment to security requirements in applying OS updates to network devices, as well as supporting new network designs such as those for ML.
A day in the life
- Manage sprint planning for your in-flight projects.
- Prepare a project report for Director level review.
- Review a high level solution design and coordinate its review with key stakeholders.
- Lead a review of operational metrics to ensure continued improvement in the security, availability and effectiveness of services you own.

Requirements:
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
