The opportunity
As our Senior Finance Officer, you'll provide trusted financial advice across financial modelling, budgeting, systems, analysis, reporting, and governance. You'll work closely with IT service delivery and product leaders, guide and mentor team members, and champion improvements that challenge the status quo.
You Will Also Be Responsible To
- Provide high-quality financial management services, performance reporting, and advice to cost centre managers, internal teams, and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, delivering responsive, customer-focused finance and procurement services.
- Coordinate and quality-assure monthly fee-for-service billing and provide oversight of ICT procurement and contractor engagement activities.
- Provide input into financial governance reporting and support project-based work as required to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Undertake initiatives that will improve automation and maintenance of controls across related finance systems (e.g., SAP, Power BI) to streamline processes and strengthen data integrity.
- Maintain compliance with departmental policy and procedures including the Financial Management Practice Manual, Australian Accounting Standards, and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated knowledge in financial management, cost modelling and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and providing financial advice in a complex organisation.
- Solid experience in delivering quality finance and accounting services, and financial data analysis in a large cost recovery business operation.
- Demonstrated communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders and deliver customer-focused services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to business improvement.
- Adaptability and initiative, with the ability to deliver results in a dynamic environment, manage competing priorities, and contribute to project-based and strategic initiatives.
- A tertiary qualification in business/accountancy/finance/commerce or related field.
- Experience in financial management system development/administration roles.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, financial management standards and policies applicable to operating within Queensland public sector.
