Flinders University is seeking a motivated and innovative Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering (Environment and Sustainability) to contribute to high-quality teaching and impactful research. The Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering (Environment and Sustainability) will contribute across:
High-quality research in civil and environmental engineering and sustainability aligned to College research strengths Innovative, student-centred teaching using contemporary, flexible and multi-mode delivery, including laboratory and placement education Topic and course coordination and curriculum development Supervision and mentoring of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (commensurate with level) Leadership contributions to accreditation, quality assurance and curriculum review activities (Level C) Industry and stakeholder engagement that enhances teaching, learning and research outcomesThis position is open to domestic and international candidates. Relocation and visa support is available to the successful candidate.
About You:
You are an emerging or established academic in civil and environmental engineering with expertise in environment and sustainability, with a strong commitment to teaching excellence, research quality and industry engagement. You are collaborative, student-focused and research-active, and able to contribute meaningfully to both education and scholarship.
Your expertise may align with areas such as environmental engineering, sustainable infrastructure, water and wastewater systems, resource recovery, climate-resilient design, or sustainability-focused civil engineering practice.
As Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering (Environment and Sustainability), you will bring:
A completed PhD or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in tertiary teaching, including curriculum design and delivery across face-to-face and online modes Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver topics in civil and environmental engineering and sustainability at introductory and advanced levels A research track record appropriate to career stage, including quality publications and engagement with competitive research funding Experience supervising honours and/or higher degree research students to completion (desirable)About the College of Science and Engineering
