About the role
ARRCS are currently sourcing an experienced Cook to support the preparation, handling, and storage of our residents’ meals at Katherine Hostel Aged Care facility in Katheirne, NT. In addition, this role will also complete Kitchen Hand shifts when required. This position is a maximum term contract of 7 months, working full-time hours on a rotating roster.
This role is attracting an hourly rate (qualified cook) of $33.22 - $33.72 / hour gross base (pending prior experience).
This role would ideally suit a skilled cook who enjoys working in a multi-functional kitchen and likes to place a ‘personal’ touch on their meal design and preparation. You must also be comfortable to complete set Kitchen Hand shifts when required.
Skills and experience
To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate the following:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or a similar discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a commercial cook environment, with preference within a Health or Aged care facility.
- Demonstrated prior experience in the development of menus’ and working with multiple dietary requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation in response to food preparation, food handling and storage.
- Demonstrated ability in achieving personal goals and identifying areas for new training, development and requesting further training for any development in competency skill checks.
- Demonstrated ability to respond and adapt to competing priorities whilst working unsupervised.
- Demonstrated ability to empathise with Aged People, their families, and Personal Carers.
