About the Role:
El Sabor is currently seeking a skilled and passionate full-time Cook to join their dedicated kitchen team. This role offers an annual salary between $75,000 and $85,000 plus superannuation, based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing a variety of traditional and modern Mexican dishes, maintaining high culinary standards, and contributing to the vibrant and fast-paced environment that El Sabor is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
• Examine food items to ensure freshness and quality prior to preparation.
• Monitor and regulate the temperature of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment to ensure consistent cooking conditions.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with established recipes and food safety standards.
• Season food appropriately during the cooking process to enhance flavour and presentation.
• Portion and plate food accurately, including the application of gravies, sauces, and garnishes to ensure visual appeal.
• Store ingredients and prepared foods in temperature-controlled environments to maintain safety and quality.
• Prepare meals in accordance with special dietary requirements, including food allergies and cultural preferences.
• Assist in planning menus and estimating food requirements as needed.
• Provide guidance and support to other kitchen staff and apprentices to maintain high culinary standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, equipment, and food preparation areas in compliance with health regulations.
• Check deliveries, manage inventory, and ensure proper stock rotation to reduce food wastage and maintain ingredient quality.
Skills and Experience Required:
• Certificate III and Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
• Diploma of Hospitality Management
• Minimum 3 years of experience working in Australia as a professional Cook
Note: Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are preferred.
