Job Description

The Role

We’re looking for a Junior Accountant to join our close-knit Perth team. In this role, you’ll provide financial and management accounting support across our mining joint ventures, working closely with our Finance Team, Tokyo Head Office, and partners at Rio Tinto.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Process sales and receipts into a sales register database and accounting system. Assist with the preparation of monthly sales-related reports.
  • Assist with the monthly cash forecasting process.
  • Assist with the month-end closing process, which includes general ledger reconciliations, journal preparation & posting and working paper preparation.
  • Assist with the Quarter-end reporting process to Head Office, including quarterly reconciliations to the Joint Venture Statements and intercompany confirmations.
  • Providing variance analysis commentary to monthly reports as needed.
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management reports as requested.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual financial reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist with the facilitation of internal and external audits.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a financial or management accounting-based role.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exposure to Accounting Software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Currently valid working rights in Australia.

Desirable:

  • Exposure to Pronto Accounting Software.
  • Exposure or experience within the mining industry.
  • An understanding of Joint Venture Accounting.
