You will also contribute to a range of strategic projects and performance initiatives that support delivery of departmental priorities. Strong problem solving, writing and relationship building skills will support success in this role.
The Senior Project Officer position is part of the Strategic Performance and Project Delivery unit within the Strategic Policy and Insights division at the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning.
This agile area provides strategic advice and research, supporting other business areas in advancing key departmental priorities and government initiatives, including housing, regional growth, industry development and legislation. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team that values diverse perspectives, encourages new ideas and is committed to continuous improvement.
A key part of this role involves supporting the department's legislative amendment activities. You will work closely with teams across the department and external agencies to coordinate legislative amendment processes, develop amendment packages, and provide clear, well‑reasoned advice on procedural and strategic considerations. You do not need prior experience working with legislation. We welcome applicants who bring strong analytical and writing skills and are willing to learn. Guidance and support will be provided as you build confidence in this space.
Alongside this, you will contribute to a range of strategic projects and performance initiatives that are important to the department's broader objectives. This may include helping shape project deliverables, preparing reports and briefings for senior leaders, identifying risks and opportunities that affect delivery, and supporting work to strengthen performance management across the organisation.
