For over 25 years, we've been committed to turning big ambitions into reality. Today, our team of 150 people specialise in building innovative, progressive workplaces.
We're seeking a forward-thinking Head of Technology to lead our Technology team and ensure seamless integration of solutions that support our dynamic construction and fitout projects.
Role Summary
The Head of Technology will support the execution of MPA's technology strategy, with a strong emphasis on operational management, continuous improvement, efficiency, and enhancing our cybersecurity posture.
The role's primary focus is delivering day-to-day operations while contributing modestly to strategic elements of MPA's business operations. Reporting to executive leadership, you will manage a small internal technology team, collaborate with stakeholders from project managers to frontline site teams as well as centralised shared service operations. A key aspect of the role is ensuring oversight across critical areas including service management (encompassing service delivery), IT risk management, network and cloud infrastructure, data management, and vendor management.
This is an on-site role based in our Sydney office.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support a small internal IT team covering infrastructure, audiovisual (AV) systems, helpdesk, service desk, system administration, and business application support.
- Oversee robust cybersecurity measures, data protection, risk assessments, and compliance with Australian legislation, leveraging frameworks like NIST CSF and ITIL processes to address threats and improve maturity.
- Partner with business functions, including executive management and front-line teams, to integrate technology solutions that enhance project delivery, scalability, and continuous business improvement.
- Handle budgets, procurement, vendor relationships, and resource allocation with a focus on efficiency, foresight, and ethical technology use, including comprehensive vendor management to optimise partnerships and contracts.
- Drive staff awareness programs and security audits, and ensure proactive management of emerging risks in a construction fitout context, emphasising IT risk management to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats.
- Oversee network and cloud infrastructure to maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing systems that support remote and on-site construction operations.
- Manage data governance, storage, and analytics practices to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and compliance in data management across projects and business functions.
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or a related field; vendor or industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, cybersecurity-related) highly regarded.
- Proven leadership experience in IT/ICT management within a construction, fitout, or similar operational environment, with a track record of managing small, high-performing teams focused on collaboration and results.
- Demonstrated expertise in executing IT/ICT strategies, including operational aspects of digital transformation, AI adoption, and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, AV systems, and emerging technologies.
- Deep proficiency in working across the Microsoft suite, including Microsoft 365, Business Central, and Microsoft Dynamics, with experience optimising these tools for business applications in construction management.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver timely resolutions, and foster continuous improvement for efficiency and scalability, with specific oversight in service management (including delivery), IT risk management, network and cloud operations, data management, and vendor management.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to ethical technology practices and innovation.
