Drive Queensland’s destiny into the 2040s by leading the strategic regional planning program to deliver 13 plans by 2028 with local government, utilities and industry. We need an Executive Director with unwavering commitment to strategic land use planning, proven in building productive relationships and problem solving to secure progressive strategies. Oversee policy integration, modelling, scenarios and public consultation to create robust 20-year regional plans. You will deliver to time, high quality, place-based strategies for the State’s interests including housing supply and economic growth. Work closely with the State Planner and colleagues to shape departmental direction, strengthen culture, build capability and strengthen stakeholder relationships.Skills

- Provide long-term strategic direction and leadership to the Regional Planning division to ensure that the team's objectives and deliverables are aligned with the Regional Growth Framework.
- Provide strategic planning advice to the State Planner/ Deputy Director-General, Planning Group, and the Minister's office, offering expertise on key issues affecting the Government's land use and strategic regional plan objectives.
- Offer insightful recommendations for enhancing the state's regional planning framework, advocating for change and improvement to achieve desired outcomes while maintaining transparency and accountability.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with senior leaders across Planning Group and broader government agencies, fostering collaboration and feedback on key issues impacting on the Government's land use and strategic regional plan objectives.
- Effectively manage the delivery and allocation of resources for various planning programs and projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious completion of project outcomes.
- Maintain a proactive approach to planning, ensuring that projects within the Regional Planning division are delivered on time and within budget, contributing to the overall success of the government's initiatives.
- Develop, lead and manage a highly engaged and responsive, customer-focused workforce that contributes effectively to the department's vision and strategic objectives.
