- Approach your school Careers Adviser to discuss your eligibility.
- Request a Recommendation Letter from your Careers Adviser, detailing your suitability and their support for your application. The letter must be on a school letterhead, signed, and include their phone and email contact details (in Word Doc or PDF format).

Applications close Sunday, 22 February 2026 at 11.59pm AEDST. We will be reviewing all applications after the closing date. We will contact you and your Careers Advisor to let you know if you will be offered an interview. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised by email.
Interviews will be held in the week commencing Monday, 2 March 2026. This will be an opportunity for you to tell us more about yourself and your interest in the SBAT position.
After interview, successful candidates will be selected to progress to the next stage of recruitment, being pre-employment checks. These checks include a pre-employment medical assessment and for positions involving cash handling, candidates will be asked to consent to a police check.Please note that people with a criminal record are not discouraged from applying for the position. Each application will be considered on its merit. A parent or legal guardian will be asked to attend and consent to the pre-employment screenings, and a further explanation of this process can be provided at the time.

- Eligibility requirements
The minimum year level to commence a school based apprenticeship or traineeship is Year 10. In these instances, students are undertaking early commencement of a Stage 6 VET course and begin accumulating HSC units of credit while also completing the requirements for Year 10.
