Description:

The Referrals and Support Officer role provides efficient and confidential administrative and business support services to the Clinical Hub leadership group and to the broader work unit, including the coordination of referrals processing on behalf of the Queensland Ambulance Service. The role is responsible for reporting, auditing and quality improvement activities as well as providing support across a wide range of administrative, financial and human resource (HR) management processes essential to the effective day to day operation of the Clinical Hub.

The Referrals and Support Officer plays an important role in maintaining a range of the Clinical Hub’s information systems and provides advice to key internal and external stakeholders regarding the Clinical Hub’s operations and processes.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

  • Demonstrated understanding, or the ability to rapidly acquire a high level of understanding of the structure, roles, functions, and services of the QAS.
  • Proven experience in providing professional executive support to high-level managerial positions in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and limited resources.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare accurate, concise reports and submissions.
  • Demonstrated high level attention to detail and organisational skills, including the ability to set and review priorities and manage multiple complex projects within tight deadlines, with a high level of autonomy.
  • Well-developed research and evaluation skills with the capacity to develop a range of options and strategies applicable to organisational situations.
  • Good relationship management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively consult and negotiate with influence across a broad range of clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in digital IT systems, data entry and document management.


The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

  • Whilst not mandatory, demonstrated experience supporting multidisciplinary teams and/or virtual care services, and knowledge of healthcare referral processes or clinical service delivery will be highly regarded.
  • The incumbent may be required to participate in shift work (including weekend and public holidays), on-call duties, overtime and travel on official business. The possession of a C class driver's licence may be required.
