This traineeship offers full‑time employment combined with paid training and practical, on‑the‑job experience supported by experienced trainers and mentors. Under the direction of the Team Leader Library Services, you will develop a wide range of skills across all aspects of library service delivery.
What We Will Offer You
- Traineeship for two (2) years with potential for ongoing employment.
- Obtain a nationally accredited Certificate IV in Library and Information Services.
- Above award rates! Commencing salary of $1,717.68 gross per fortnight plus superannuation (at 18 years of age or older), varying rates subject to age and experience as per Award provisions.

- Process deliveries and re-stock resources
- Assist in the setup and pack‑down of Community Learning Spaces
- Assist customers with information and technology enquiries
- Undertake circulation desk duties including processing library memberships, returns and loans
- Maintain library shelves through re-shelving and shelf tidying
- Develop knowledge of eLibrary and Agile Library collections and services
- Reliable, honest and motivated
- Good time management and initiative
- Positive, productive and professional (but not officious)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident, flexible and open to change
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment
This traineeship will provide you with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in both local government and Library Services whilst being supported to learn and grow in a friendly and enjoyable working environment. Across 24 months you will work full time (35-hour week) alongside experienced supervisors and colleagues, gaining hands-on industry experience and receiving 3 hours paid study time per week towards achieving a nationally recognised Certificate IV qualification.
As The Successful Applicant, You Will Need
- a current Class P1, P2 or C Driver’s Licence (desirable but not essential)
- full rights to work and study in Australia
- completion of Record of School Achievement (RoSA) or Higher School Certificate (HSC)
- commitment to undertaking the formal training requirements of this role
- the ability to work weekends in accordance with rostering requirements
- a desire to treat others with respect and work safely to meet Work Health and Safety requirements
