The role of the Principal Project Officer is to provide leadership, coordination, implementation and evaluation of strategic departmental projects and programs that support government priorities.As Principal Project Officer, you will join the Elevate – Leadership and Practice Excellence Team and provide project leadership and coordination that aligns with evidence and best practice in response to Youth Detention reform, strategies and initiatives. The Principal Project Officer will also support the delivery of high-quality, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services within youth detention environments
As a Principal Project Officer, You Will Specifically
- Provide leadership and management in the development and implementation of projects, ensuring effective and high quality, innovative and practical responses to strategic priorities identified by government.
- Lead, oversee, coordinate and monitor key aspects of the project plan, including planning. governance and resource coordination and identifying connecting projects and programs ensuring the delivery of required outcomes.
- Support the design, implementation, and refinement of rehabilitative programs and practices that respond to the complex needs of young people in custody.
- Represent the department with other levels of government and the non-government sector, where applicable, to ensure coordinated strategies and policies.
- Identify and provide practice advice on youth detention centre rehabilitative programs, practices and relevant project activities and, where necessary, coordinate and oversee the provision of these within resourcing.
- Liaise with staff of other directorates, where applicable, to ensure that activities relevant to the project are appropriate. Build effective and enduring relationships with partners and key stakeholders.
- Contribute to the department's activities to achieve the vision in accordance with the values and priorities.
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
