About The Unit

The K-2 Strategy branch provides strategic leadership to strengthen early years education across Kindergarten to Year 2. Working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, the team drives evidence-based approaches that support successful early learning outcomes and transitions.

Your Role

This position is based in Brisbane (with flexible work arrangements available) and sits within the K-2 Strategy branch of the Early Childhood, Regulation and Communication division of the Department of Education, reporting to the K-2 Strategy Manager. The role is responsible for leading components of strategic projects that support early years education across Kindergarten, with a focus on developing high-quality resources and practice guidance in regard to the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Progression Toolkit (QKLPT).

You will work closely with colleagues across the branch, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to share expertise, coordinate delivery, and support the successful implementation of K-2 initiatives that improve early learning outcomes for children.

  • Engage with internal stakeholders across the department and collaborate with external partners, including early childhood education and care providers, peak bodies, and advisory groups, to support the delivery of the QKLPT.
  • Co-ordinate the creation and review of early childhood sector practice support resources in relation to formative assessment in early years.
  • Use effective project management strategies to ensure outcomes are delivered in a timely and effective manner.
  • Demonstrate a high level of commitment to professional development and best practice, aligned to the National Quality Framework.
