About Our Team

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (The Duke of Ed) is an internationally recognised accreditation framework open to young people between the ages of 14 and 24. As the licence holder of The Duke of Ed in Queensland, the Department of Education supports state schools, non-government schools and community organisations to deliver The Duke of Ed and Bridge Award in Queensland.

Your Responsibilities

As the Manager, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage The Duke of Ed team to ensure high-quality service provision and support for delivery of the framework across all Duke of Ed Centres through the Queensland Award Operating Authority (AOA), including state schools, non-government schools and community organisations;
  • Develop and strengthen productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including school and regional staff, other government departments, non-government organisations and the National Award Operator (NAO) for The Duke of Ed Award - Australia;
  • Prepare and quality assure of a range of written material, including executive correspondence, briefing material, speaking notes, information and newsletters in relation to The Duke of Ed and Bridge Award;
  • Support the department's strategic goal of excellence in every state school, with a focus on creating a positive culture that promotes a sense of belonging, supports students to achieve their educational goals and supports staff and students to feel confident and to thrive;
  • As the Executive Officer of the Queensland AOA, support the realisation of the goals and outcomes of the NAO and ensure that the AOA is meeting its licencing obligations and operates in accordance with department policy and procedures;
  • Prepare strategic advice and information for senior leaders and members of the Queensland State Award Committee;
  • Oversight of Duke of Ed program budget and resourcing, including key events such as the annual Gold Level Ceremony.
