Lead Queensland’s State Assessment and Referral Agency and partner with local governments on planning scheme amendments. Be a change maker to drive a team culture that delivers a pragmatic and timely service to facilitate State priorities for housing supply and economic development. As Executive Director you will drive a responsive team culture that gives residents, industry and local government unequivocal and timely certainty on decisions, regardless of the planning decision being a ’yes' or ’no'. Oversee the impact assessment of wind farms, solar farms and batteries, coordinate timely and pragmatic development assessment referrals across State agencies, partnering with local governments for streamlined amendments to deliver responsive planning schemes. You’ll work closely with the State Planner and your colleagues to collectively contribute to the department’s strategic direction.We're looking for the best-suited applicant for the role. For This Role We Are Looking For Strengths In
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for Planning Services to ensure timely, robust and streamlined decision-making to instil investment and community confidence in the State's role in development assessment and review of local government planning schemes.
- Provide proactive, responsive and timely advice to the Deputy Director-General, Planning Group, and the Minister and Minister's office.
- Offer insightful recommendations for streamlining the state's planning framework, advocating for change and improvement to achieve desired outcomes while maintaining the State's interests.
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships with senior leaders across Planning Group and other government agencies, and with local government, fostering collaboration on the Government's objectives.
- Effectively manage the allocation of resources ensuring timely and budget conscious completion of projects and services, meeting publicly facing key performance indicators and contributing to community and industry confidence in the State's planning framework.
- Proactively contribute to the Group's Executive Leadership Team, in developing an inclusive and collaborative culture, ensuring a high standard of accountability and performance.
- Develop, lead and manage a highly engaged and responsive, customer-focused workforce that contributes effectively to the department's vision and strategic objectives.
