Queensland Government
Brisbane Full-day Full-time

Description:

Your role within Office of the Queensland Government Architect will support the department to work across government, the private sector and the community to provide well-designed, healthy and sustainable environments in the housing, health, education, transport, the arts and planning sectors. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading multiple projects and areas of work under direction of the Queensland Government Architect.
  • Provide design leadership across whole of government urban policy, precinct planning and major project pipelines, shaping Queensland's long-term urban legacy.
  • Act as a trusted strategic adviser to senior executives and Ministers on architecture, urban design and city shaping initiatives, including Brisbane 2032 legacy precincts and state significant projects.
  • Champion design excellence and lead design advocacy activities such as design reviews, forums, awards and publications that raise the profile of good design across Queensland.
  • Work on a curated portfolio of complex, city-shaping projects across housing, health, education, transport, cultural and public realm sectors, rather than a single-agency workload.
  • Shape early-stage visioning, master planning and briefing to embed high-quality urban design outcomes before projects enter procurement and delivery.
  • Contribute to key policy instruments such as regional plans, design frameworks and guidelines that influence private as well as public development outcomes
  • Access to ongoing professional development, including conferences, targeted training and professional memberships relevant to architecture and urban design leadership.
  • Support for continued professional registration and engagement in professional bodies (e.g. RAIA, AILA, PIA) where relevant.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to government
  • Lead the design review of a broad range of infrastructure projects as well as government and private sector projects and communicate outcomes with clarity and sensitivity.
