Biosecurity Queensland plays a vital role in securing the state's agricultural prosperity and preserving and protecting the health of our environment and economy. Strategy, Investment and Performance (SIP) delivers a range of services to support Biosecurity Queensland (BQ). SIP partners with BQ program areas to provide specialised advice on best business practice and technology to serve internal (and sometimes external) customers and business stakeholders.
As the Principal Project Officer - Biosecurity System Coordination, you will lead the design and delivery of strategic initiatives that strengthen Queensland's biosecurity system. You'll drive monitoring and evaluation to turn data into insight, shape strategic direction and track progress against agreed outcomes. Working across teams and with stakeholders, you'll translate strategy into practical plans, manage delivery and ensure projects remain focused, flexible and aligned with government priorities.
Key Responsibilities / Outputs
- Lead monitoring and evaluation activities, including framework and metric development, analysis, reporting and continuous improvement of strategy outcomes.
- Develop, plan and deliver strategic initiatives through strong project governance, risk management, stakeholder engagement and clear reporting.
- Provide high-quality strategic advice, project documentation, evaluations and recommendations to inform decision-making and support system-wide improvement.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation, strategy development and/or complex project delivery.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn evidence into clear advice.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing high-quality reports, briefs and submissions for decision-makers.
- Knowledge of Queensland Government policy and/or regulatory environments.
