Communications Officer

Queensland Government
Brisbane Full-day Full-time

Description:

Are you a creative communications professional with a strong digital skillset and a knack for storytelling? The Office of the Governor is seeking a Communications Officer to support the delivery of high-quality written, visual and digital content that advances the Office’s strategic engagement objectives. This full-time, permanent role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-profile environment, working with a small but passionate and committed team.

You will play a key role in communicating the significance, meaning and value of Her Excellency’s constitutional, ceremonial and civic roles in ways that resonate with Queenslanders. The role encompasses content creation across social media, web and publications — including photography, videography and copywriting — while also supporting event planning, community and stakeholder engagement and maintaining accurate records.

About Us

As an independent entity, the Office of the Governor supports the Governor of Queensland in fulfilling her constitutional, ceremonial and civic responsibilities. The Office provides best-practice advice and delivers high-quality engagement, communications and stewardship of the Government House Estate.

Your opportunity

As Communications Officer, you will support the Principal Communications Advisor and Director, Engagement to deliver compelling, accurate and professional communications that authentically reflect the Governor's role and priorities. You will play a hands-on role in creating content that helps Queenslanders understand and engage with the Governor's work — from major ceremonial occasions to community visits across the state. This role combines creative content production with strong organisational skills, including record keeping, filing and digital asset management.

  • The opportunity to create meaningful digital and visual content with statewide reach
  • Exposure to high-level events, stakeholders and community engagement
  • A collaborative, professional team environment
  • Full-time, permanent employment

What We're Looking For

  • Capture, edit and package photography and video to support digital storytelling
  • Manage and update website content, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, currency and alignment with Office standards
  • Manage the timely delivery of speeches, messages, media materials and other communications to meet the demands of a busy Vice-Regal Program
  • Provide on-the-ground communications support at events
  • Monitor media and digital engagement and contribute to reporting and insights
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Maintain professionalism, discretion and attention to detail in a sensitive operating environment
  • Support effective record keeping and digital asset management, including cataloguing communications materials, images and video in line with Office requirements
