The Director, Fleet and Equipment Operations (FEO) is a key strategic role that ensures high quality fleet and equipment services are delivered to the QAS. The role has overall responsibility for the strategic leadership, planning, management and governance of FEO functions.The role leads, directs and manages a multidisciplinary team delivering efficient and legislatively compliant statewide services and the associated governance systems and processes.
Utilising your extensive and proven management skills in delivering fleet and equipment services, you will establish an effective performance framework, foster innovation and lead an outcome focused team that drives the delivery of exemplary services to the QAS. As a senior officer within the QAS, you will work closely with the executive leaders to provide high level advice and support to the Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner, Corporate and Statewide Services, and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders in support of the organisation's legal, organisational, operational and business objectives.
We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:
- Demonstrated capabilities and experience in successfully implementing best practice fleet and equipment programs and strategies and the ability to translate the needs of operational officers into functional, cost-effective products and services that are fit for purpose and operationally appropriate.
- Proven ability to analyse and solve complex problems; exercise sound judgement; manage and implement major organisational reforms; and work collaboratively with senior executives and internal and external stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated highly developed communication, negotiation, consultation and collaboration skills and the proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven capability in leading the development and delivery of high-risk projects and contracts in a fleet and equipment operational environment, including the successful management of external service providers.
- Proven ability to provide high level policy advice and contribute to strategic planning, including the development, implementation and evaluation of fleet and equipment policy, standards and service improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and develop a professional, high performing team, in an environment of competing priorities and needs with limited resources.
- Demonstrated commitment to implement practices which promote a fair and ethical workplace, employment equity, cultural diversity and occupational health and safety.
- Whilst not mandatory, tertiary or postgraduate qualification/s in a business or leadership related discipline will be highly regarded.
- The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence may be required.
